Team USA is off to a great start at the 2017 Junior Pan American Championships in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Jourdan Delacruz is the second athlete to medal for Team USA. Hayley Reichardt took home silver in the 48kg weight category.

Delacruz (53kg) finished with an 81kg Snatch and a 102kg Clean & Jerk for a 183kg total. The snatch was good for a bronze medal while the clean & jerk and total were enough for the silver.

In addition, Delacruz set new Junior American Records for both lifts and the total, besting her existing records. The 183kg total is 5kg better than her previous Junior American Record set this past February.
