Kianoush Rostami (Iran), the Men’s 85kg bronze medalist at the 2012 Olympics, broke the world record for the clean and jerk and total yesterday at the 1st International Fajr Cup IWF Grand Prix.
Rostami successfully snatched 175kg on his second attempt and then passed on his final attempt. After a successful clean and jerk at 210kg, Rostami then broke the clean and jerk world record with a good lift for 220kg. He again passed on his final attempt.
No American lifters are competing at the event which runs through June 2.
