If it feels like the 2016 USAW National University and Under 25 Championships just happened, it’s because they were. The National University Championships has historically taken place in September (Under 25 was added last year). But with the addition of the American Open Series in 2017, the University and Under 25 event has been moved up to the spring.
The 2017 event is being held at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida this weekend. Florida-native Mattie Rogers is the most notable and achieved weightlifter at the competition. Rogers will be competing in the Under 25 Championships.
Based on the starting list, most of the top entry totals in the weight categories are close which should lead to some great back and forth competition on the platform. Here are links to keep up with the event this weekend:
