Mattie Rogers is in a league of her own. Rogers competed in New Orleans this past weekend at the 2016 USAW National University and Under 25 Championships. While Rogers has eased back into training following the whirlwind leading up to the Olympics, she made the lifts look easy on Sunday.

Competing in both the National University Championships and the Under 25 Championships, Rogers went 6-for-6 on her way to a 228 total. Her first attempt in the snatch, 95kg, was 5kg higher than the 2nd best in the weight class and she finished with 101kg on her third attempt.

It was the same story on the clean and jerk. Again, Rogers’ opening 120kg lift bettered the 2nd best clean and jerk of the session by 13kg. She went on to hit 127kg on her third attempt. In the process Rogers set the American University Record for the Snatch, Clean & Jerk and Total, even if it was below her 132kg performance at the Olympic Trials. All six of her lifts looked effortless and smooth.

Here’s to watching Rogers on her first meet back of the 2020 Quad.
