USA Weightlifting (USAW) just released the qualifying totals for the 2017 Nike American Open Finals. This is the first year of the American Open Series. Athletes can qualify for the Finals by meeting the qualifying totals shown below or qualifying through the American Open Series.
To qualify via qualifying total, an athlete must achieve the total in a USAW-sanctioned event between December 1, 2016 and October 29, 2017.
The table below shows the qualifying total for each weight class and the increase or decrease from the 2016 qualifying total. The year-over-year increases are much smaller than last year and may indicate that the USAW Board of Directors were happy with the turnout in 2016.
