The 2016 Arnold Weightlifting Championships in Columbus, Ohio, wrapped up this weekend and there were some familiar faces atop the leaderboard. The Arnold is different that most weightlifting meets in that all lifters compete across weight classes based on their Sinclair Coefficient for the meet.
On the women’s side, Olympic-bound Jenny Arthur (76.6 kg bodyweight) took first place followed by Ashley Perkovich (59.2 kg bodyweight) and Samantha Poeth (74.55 kg bodyweight). Arthur hit a 102kg snatch and a 135kg clean and jerk for a 237kg total. Both lifts were the most weight lifted on the women’s side.
In the Men’s Open division, Krzysztof Szramiak took first place with a Sinclair Coefficient of 420.98. Szramiak, a member of the 2008 Polish Olympic team, lifted 155-188-343 weighing 80.7 kg. In second place, Norik Vardanian lifted 165-204-369 and D’Angelo Osorio lifted 165-210-375 for third place.
