Shainov is Shainova’s coach stated that they have not yet received official documentation of the positive test result, but that he fully expects that both athletes will lose their 2008 Olympic medals and will be suspended.

Shainov claims that Shainova tested positive for Turinabol, an anabolic steroid. Per steroid.com, Turinabol “significantly promotes muscular endurance”, will help an athlete feel less beat up after a season’s worth of training, and increase power and speed.
