Move over, Brian Friend. This morning the World Fitness Project released a new show discussing the thought process behind why they are changing the format of the 2027 WFP season.
But instead of Friend moderating the discussion, Grace Williams led the discussion with Will Moorad and Jason Ansley.
2027 Season
Ansley and Moorad spoke about bringing on partner events as part of the Series competitions that will qualify elites and community divisions to the 2027 World Fitness Championship next December.
It echoed a lot of what Ansley shared while he was on THE SPIN last week, but with a bit more detail.
No Swim at 2026 WFP Finals
Near the end of the show, Moorad revealed that the 2026 WFP Finals next month will not include a swim event.
The WFP changed swim venues for this year, but that venue has been under construction and there was a chance they would not have been completed in time. As such, the WFP team decided to forego the swim and change the programming.
WFP Finals Workout
Moorad did, however, reveal that one of the workouts of the WFP Finals will be a 1-Rep Max Clean & Jerk, with the same 8-minute time cap format that we have seen at all the WFP competitions the past two years.
All divisions at the Finals will take on this max lift.
Previous WFP 1RM Lifts
Like mentioned earlier, the WFP has programmed a 1RM event at every competition the past two seasons. Here is what they were…
1RM Jerk (2025 WFP Indianapolis)
1RM Clean (2025 WFP Mesa)
1RM Snatch (2025 WFP Finals)
1RM Deadlift (2026 WFP London)
1RM Bench Press (2026 WFP Indianapolis)
