No one has every accused the organizers of FitFest of communicating effectively. Heck, they shared the team captains in an email to their mailing list before they made the announcement on Instagram (and before we shared that news).
As for the rest of the athletes competing, there has been a slow drip on their Instagram of athletes announcing that they will be competing…like Fee Saghafi, Nick Mathew and Abigail Domit.
But outside of these announcements and a few others, the full rosters have never been formally announced. And with early bird spectator ticket pricing ending this week, some of the unannounced names might draw more fans.
Interestingly, while the announcements have not been made on Instagram, the FitFest website has a list of athletes who appear to be competing. The problem is that the competition says it is “18 of the very best athletes in their prime for a ‘Europe versus Rest World’ showdown.”
That would mean two teams with nine athletes each.
But what if the athletes listed show 10 on Team Europe and 11 on Team World?
The graphic above is from FitFest’s website. The team captains have been announced. So have Sara Sigmundsdottir, Emily Rolfe, Harry Lightfoot, Aimee Cringle, Jonne Koski, Fee Saghafi, Nick Mathew, Abigail Domit and Aniol Ekai.
Colten Mertens, Noah Ohlsen, Chandler Smith, Shelby Neal, Sam Dancer, Ella Wilkenson, Jelle Hoste and Lucy McGonigle have not.
Right now it’s very unclear of who is competing, who is not. Are they nine athletes on each team? Are there more? I honestly have no idea.
Maybe we will find out soon…maybe not. Either way, FitFest is scheduled for December 7-8 at the NEC in Birmingham, UK. It’s the same weekend as the Dubai Fitness Championship.
