Camille Leblanc-Bazinet is just a few weeks removed from competing at the 2018 CrossFit Games where she finished 13th overall. Leblanc-Bazinet is now, however, shifting her focus to the weightlifting platform in preparation of the Nike 2018 American Open Series 3 competition next month.
Leblanc-Bazinet is on the start list of the women’s 59kg weight category. Her entry total is 190kg, putting her tied for 3rd highest entry. In the newly created weight class, Janelle Shafer leads the pack with a 206kg entry total followed by Jennyfer Roberts at 195kg and Taylor Turner at 190kg.
Back in 2016, Leblanc-Bazinet hit a double bodyweight clean & jerk in training. This, however, was before she had shoulder surgery a year ago.
Leblanc-Bazinet, while focused on CrossFit, is one of Canada’s top Olympic weightlifters. With the 2020 Olympic Games coming up in a couple years, competing at the AO3 might be an indication that the 2014 CrossFit Games champion is trying to make a run at the Olympics. Tia-Clair Toomey competed at the CrossFit Games and Olympics back-to-back in 2016.
The USAW American Open Series competition is open to both national and international athletes. The AO3 is in Las Vegas, Nevada, September 13-16.
