It’s been a little over a month since Joanna Wietrzyk made headlines following her bout with diarrhea during a HYROX race. In the weeks following the incident, the top-ranked female HYROX athlete has gone quiet on social media following her personal statement and apology.
Update: Joanna has just released a video an hour after this publication to give an update from Hamburg.
That will all change on Friday as Wietrzyk is slated to compete in first race of the 2026-2027 HYROX Elite Series in Hamburg, Germany.
Wietrzyk will be joined by the top women in the sport, including the defending champion, Alyssa McElhany, Lauren Weeks and 12 other women looking to gain critical points to earn their way to the 2027 HYROX World Championships.
The men’s Elite 15 field will be headlined by Dylan Scott, Tim Wenisch, Alex Roncevic and Charlie Botterill. Hunter McIntyre will not be competing this weekend.
The Elite 15 women’s race begins at 6:30pm local time on Friday, October 30. That is 1:30pm Eastern Time in the United States.
The Elite 15 men will start at 8:00pm local time following the women. That is 3:00pm Eastern Time.
