The start of the 2024 CrossFit Open is just a few weeks away, but the Fittest Woman on Earth, Laura Horvath, and 8-time CrossFit Games veteran, Thuri Helgadottir, will be competing at the 2024 EWF European Championships. Hosted by the European Weightlifting Federation (EWF), the top Olympic Weightlifters will compete in Sofia, Bulgaria, from February 12-20, 2024.
Horvath will compete in Group A of the 76kg weight category on Saturday, February 17 at 8pm local time. For those in the United States, that is 1pm EST and 10am PST. Horvath will be representing her home country, Hungary. She lists 220kg as her Entry Total.
In November 2023, Horvath won the 76kg weight category at the 2023 Hungary National Championship. She went 5-for-6 and finished with a 215kg total (95kg snatch & 120kg clean and jerk).
Horvath was expected to compete against Kate Vibert, one of the United States’ top weightlifters, but Vibert has moved up to the 81kg weight category this week. Vibert will be competing alongside Mattie Rogers.
As for Helgadottir, she will be competing in the 59kg weight category on Wednesday, February 14 at 12pm local time, or 5am EST/2am PST. Helgadottir, competing for Iceland, is in Group BÂ and has a listed 184kg Entry Total.
At the 2023 EWF European Championships Helgadottir finished with a 186kg total.
