The 2024 UAE Storm Games was this past weekend in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates. The second year for the competition attracted several notable CrossFit Games athletes out for one last tune-up before the start of the 2024 CrossFit Games season. At the end of the two-day, eight scored event competition, Luka Djukic and Andrea Solberg were crowned the 2024 UAE Storm Game champions.
For Djukic, he came into the weekend as the defending champion after winning last year’s inaugural competition. Djukic looked strong throughout – winning two events and never finishing worse than 4th place in any event. He cruised to an easy 66-point victory over Kaylan Souza. Toby Buckland rounded out the podium spot.
On the women’s side, all eyes were on Jamie Simmonds as made her return to the competition floor for the first time following surgery to repair a torn UCL she injured at the 2023 CrossFit Games. Unfortunately for Simmonds, however, Event 3 was not disclosed until the last minute. That workout was a 1RM Snatch.
Simmonds, who has been rehabbing her elbow for the past several months, has not snatched heavy and elected to withdraw prior to the event as a precautionary measure.
Andrea Solberg, who was in first place after two event wins to start the UAE Storm Games would go wire-to-wire to win the Female Elite division. Solberg also notched six event wins on her way to victory. Joining her on the podium was Evie Hollis and Oda Lundekvam.
