Manon Angonese Hits 204kg Total at 2022 IWF World Championships

Manon Angonese just wrapped up her hectic competition schedule Sunday night in Bogota, Colombia. Just a week after competing at the Dubai Fitness Championship, Angonese flew to South America to compete at the 2022 IWF World Championships.

Angonese, competing in Group C, lifted last night at 9:30 pm local time where she went 4-for-6 with misses on her second attempt of each lift. She opened with a successful 88kg snatch followed by a miss at 91kg. She followed that up with a good lift on her third attempt for 91kg on the snatch.

On the clean and jerks, Angonese hit her first attempt at 110kg. Her second attempt, at 112kg, went to jury decision where they ruled it a “no lift”. She came back and attempted 113kg for her final attempt and was successful. She finished with a 91kg snatch, 113kg clean & jerk for a 204kg total, just 4kg off her all-time PR.

In speaking with Angonese, she said that the Colombian altitude was affecting a lot of athletes competing, but because she is accustomed to high altitudes. Many of the athletes were experiencing dizziness and dehydration from the altitude. For Angonese, she said she had to eat a lot of food to avoid losing too much weight while there. However, she weighed in at 67kg, well below the 71kg weight category and much lower than she tries to compete at.

The competition concludes a very busy few months as Angonese has competed at the Madrid CrossFit Championship, Rogue Invitational, Dubai Fitness Championship and now the IWF World Championships. Angonese will take some time to enjoy the holidays and will then be back training for the upcoming 2023 CrossFit Games season.
