Manon Angonese is racking up the frequent flyer miles this offseason. Angonese has competed at the Madrid Championship, Rogue Invitational and Dubai Fitness Championship over the past four months. Now, the Belgian athlete is heading to Bogota, Colombia, to compete in the IWF World Weightlifting Championships.
The IWF World Weightlifting Championships began on Monday, December 5 and run through next Friday, December 16. Angonese, competing for Belgium, is competing in 71kg weight class. With a 215kg entry, Angonese will compete in Group C on Sunday, December 11 at 9:30 pm EST.
Angonese will be competing in a very strong weight class that includes China’s Guifang Liao who posted a 260kg entry weight. Also competing in the 71kg weight category is American Katherine Vibert (formerly Nye) and Great Britain’s Sarah Davies.
It is not Angonese’s first time on a world stage for weightlifting. Last year Angonese competed at the IWF World Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where she finished 14th overall in the same 71kg weight category.
