After it was announced that CrossFit would no longer be hosting the Occupational Games this year, Rich Froning and the Mayhem crew stepped up and created the ‘Everyday Hero Games’. While the virtual competition was created primarily for “Everyday Heroes”, there is also a non-first responder category for those who still want to participate for fun.
Let’s take a look at some of the details of the competition.
When
The Everyday Hero Games begins on Friday, May 5 and runs through Sunday, May 7.
Who
Technically everyone can participate, but it was primarily created for Firefighters, Law-Enforcement Officers, First Responders, Military Personnel, Medical Professionals and Educators. However, as mentioned earlier, there is a category for those who do not fall into one of those occupations.
There is an RX division, called the “Chief” division, along with two scaled divisions, Officer and Recruit. The three divisions will give more athletes the chance to compete based on their ability level.
Cost & How to Register
It is FREE to participate. That’s right…there is no entry fee. To register, you must be a current member of Mayhem Athlete or sign up for the Free 7-day trial of Mayhem Athlete’s Everyday Hero program (which is included with the Everyday Athlete or Competitor Package of Mayhem Athlete).
After the 7-day free trial, the Everyday Athlete Package is $19.99/month and the Competitor Package is $49.95/month. All of Mayhem Athlete’s programming is hosted on SugarWOD.
Workouts, Score & Video Submissions
The workouts will be posted on Thursday, May 4 at 2pm Central Time on the Everyday Hero Track inside the Mayhem Athlete app. All scores are due by Sunday, May 7 at midnight Central Time.
Videos will only be required for athletes finishing in the Top 5 for each division. So if you are fit enough to contend for a top spot, make sure to record your workouts.
Prizes
First place in the Chief Division (the RX division) for each Everyday Hero category (Firefighters, Law-Enforcement Officers, First Responders, etc) will win $1,000 plus a custom Rogue Fitness barbell. Additionally, one random participant will win $500 simply for completing all of the workouts.
Official Website
The official website is hosted at mayhemathletes.com/hero-games. From there, you can read all of the FAQs and register to compete.
