Roman Khrennikov has withdrawn from the 2024 Rogue Invitational. He was confirmed by Rogue to be in the field via an Instagram post on September 23. However, yesterday evening Saxon Panchik shared that he would be traveling to Scotland for the Rogue Invitational.
As such, the official list of competitors on the Rogue Invitational website now shows Khrennikov has been removed from the field and Panchik has been added.
It is believed that Khrennikov suffered a hip injury while competing at the CrossFit Games in August. His event finishes would appear to confirm this as the last five events at the Games were his five worst finishes of the entire competition. Khrennikov would end up taking 9th place overall.
Khrennikov also withdrew from last month’s TYR Cup at TYR Wodapalooza SoCal. Khrennikov was slated to be on Team World, but elected to not compete.
But after Rogue’s announcement that Khrennikov was competing it appeared that the six-time CrossFit Games veteran was ready to hit the competition floor again. Now we will need to wait a little longer to see him back in action.
As for Panchik, he is coming off an 11th place finish during his sixth appearance at the CrossFit Games. Panchik has competed twice at the Rogue Invitational, 10th and 16th in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
It is unclear if Austin Hatfield declined an invite to compete at Rogue or if Rogue decided to ask the multi-year Games veteran to compete over the Games rookie. Hatfield finished one spot higher, 10th, at the CrossFit Games compared to Panchik.
The 2024 Rogue Invitational will be November 8-10 at P&J Live in Aberdeen, Scotland. It is the first year the Rogue Invitational will be hosted outside of the United States.
