While most eyes were glued to the Europe Semifinal this weekend, Sydney Wells was in Anaheim, California, competing in a HYROX race. Wells, who failed to qualify for this year’s Semifinals due to a major penalty during video review, signed up for the HYROX race just weeks before the event.
For the top athletes in the Pro division, HYROX Anaheim was the last chance to qualify for the HYROX World Championships. For Wells, it was an opportunity to compete in a different type of competition.
Wells completed the race in just over an hour at 1:12:33, good for 18th place in a field of 60 women in the Pro division. Wells’ run time was 35:34, good for 28th. She made up her time on the fitness elements. She had the second best time on the SkiErg where she finished the 1k distance in 4:14. She also completed the 100 wall balls at the end of the race in 4:03, good for 9th in the field.
Here are the split times of Wells’ race.
