While most eyes were focused on the Rogue Invitational, there was a competition down in Puerto Rico that drew some big names. The 2024 Beetle Extravaganza, a CrossFit licensed event, saw athletes like Tola Morakinyo, Luis Oscar Mora, Lena Richter, and Alison Scudds in the elite individual line up.
The two-day competition featured eight scored workouts. The elite women’s field had 12 athletes while the men’s field was much larger, with 34 athletes.
Tola Morakinyo won the elite men’s field 734 points. Morakinyo won four events on his way to the top of the podium. Nicolas Bidarte took 2nd place and Esteban Ospina rounded out the podium.
Luis Oscar Mora, Pedro Martins and Raphael Durand were in the field finishing in 4th, 6th and 7th, respectively.
On the women’s side, Mariana Meza took 1st place overall. Meza, a Semifinals athlete who finished 18th at the North America West Semifinal, held off Lena Richter and Alison Scudds. Richter took 2nd while Scudds finished in 3rd.
