Travis Mayer’s Video Submission Rejected by Rogue Invitational

Travis Mayer will not be competing at the 2022 Rogue Invitational, but not because his scores were not good enough. Instead, Mayer’s Workout 1 video submission was rejected by the Rogue Invitational Sunday night.

The reason…Mayer did not film and weigh the barbell and bumper plates during the video submission. Mayer, using Rogue Fitness equipment, thought it was not required because he was using Rogue equipment in a Rogue event. But that was an incorrect assumption as the video submission standards (shown below) state that all equipment must be weighted regardless of brand.

With only a few hours until the video submission deadline, Mayer had a decision to make – run back to the gym at 9:30pm on Sunday and re-do the workout or fail to submit a valid Workout 1 score. Mayer chose the latter.

Looking at Mayer’s other three scores, it appears he would have finished inside the top 5 (depending on his Workout 1 score) and qualified for the Rogue Invitational.

Reading through the comments, this is not the first time a Games athlete has been disqualified in a Rogue Fitness competition. Carolyne Prevost commented in Mayer’s post that she was disqualified from one of Rogue’s monthly challenges for not weighing her equipment.

In speaking with Mayer, he reiterated it was his fault for not fully reading the rules and making assumptions on what would be accepted. While Mayer won’t be in Austin later this year, he will be traveling to Spain to compete in the Madrid Championship on September 9-11.
