World Fitness Project Overhauls 2027 Season, Drops Tour Stops for Global Series

The World Fitness Project has announced changes to its framework for the 2027 season. After two seasons of Tour Stops and the WFP Finals, the 2027 WFP season is shifting to a “season-long global competition circuit.”

With the two Tour Stops eliminated, the new World Fitness Series will utilize a network of qualifying events to give athletes more opportunities to qualify for the 2027 World Fitness Championship.

“This is about creating more ways for athletes to compete at a high level, all season long, while building toward the biggest stage in our sport,” said Will Moorad, Director of Sport. “At the heart of this is a simple belief: People Matter More. More events, more formats, more chances to qualify, the 2027 Series is our biggest step yet toward a truly global circuit and every path leads to the Championship.”

The new 2027 Series will include divisions from Pro Individuals to Elite Teams, Masters, Masters Pairs and Next Gen (teens) with all divisions competing under the same roof at the 2027 World Fitness Championship.

The WFP believes this new format will create easier access and more opportunities to compete and qualify for the World Fitness Championship than the two Tour Stop format.

“The growth of the World Fitness Series reflects the strength and momentum of this sport on a global scale,” said Jason Ansley, President of Global Fitness Investments. “By connecting the Series with our partner and acquired competitions, we’re building a global season that helps events grow, gives athletes real opportunities at every level and creates long-term value for the entire sport.”

The 2027 Series appears to feature 10 competitions across the world:

  • Monster Games (Kansas, USA)
  • Down Under Championship (Australia)
  • The Italian Championship (Italy)
  • Atlantic Coast Classic (Florida, USA)
  • Desert City Classic (Arizona, USA)
  • Wodcelona (Spain)
  • FITLAND Fitness Festival (Colombia)
  • TCB (Brazil)
  • Athens Throwdown (Greece)
  • Oslo Throwdown (Norway)

How Qualification Works

Athletes who compete at one of the Series events can qualify directly to the World Fitness Championship. Spots, however, will vary by division and event.
