The 2023 CrossFit Games documentary, Fittest on Earth: Final Showdown in Madtown, is finally available. Plagued by distribution issues and delays, the documentary covering the final year in Madison can be streamed on Apple TV and Prime Video.
Both platforms are offering Fittest on Earth: Final Showdown in Madtown for purchase at $14.99 USD.
CrossFit Games documentaries have typically been released in the run-up to the following year’s CrossFit Games. For example, the 2022 CrossFit Games documentary was released on July 14, 2023, just a few weeks before the 2023 CrossFit Games.
The 2023 Games documentary, however, experienced distribution issues which caused the release to come after the 2024 CrossFit Games. The trailer was released on August 15, 2024, in conjunction with the pre-sale.
The original release date was scheduled for September 3, 2024.
CrossFit made the decision, however, to place the release on hold without a determined future date. CrossFit told The Barbell Spin that while a new release date had not yet been set, distributors were publishing “arbitrary updates” without input from CrossFit.
Thus, confusion ensued as October 1 and November 1 came and went with no updates or official announcements by CrossFit.
But today is the day. The 2023 CrossFit Games documentary can now be purchased. I have also been told that it will be available via Video-on-Demand beginning December 17, 2024.
