When the preliminary schedule was released for Semifinals, one notable change was that the two North American and European Semifinals were four days while the other regions were three days. Outside of that, it was unclear how CrossFit was going to schedule the individual and team competitions with the extra day.
The North American and Europe Semifinals feature a larger field than the four other Semifinals. Those three regions feature double the athletes of the smaller regions and it was going to be difficult to get all of the heats in within just three days.
Because of this, many speculated whether there would be cuts or if the competition would be spread out over four days. Neither of those are the case though.
This afternoon CrossFit provided some additional details surrounding how the 4-day schedule will be structured. To accommodate for the volume of heats, CrossFit will stagger the start of the team and individual competition.
Teams will run three days beginning on Thursday and wrapping up on Saturday. The individuals will begin on Friday and conclude on Sunday. So Thursday will only feature teams and Sunday will only see individuals take the competition floor. And Friday and Saturday will see overlap between teams and individuals.
For the other four regions (Oceania, Asia, South America and Africa), the competition will run three days, from Friday to Sunday.
