Laura Horvath is the first athlete from Hungary to compete at the CrossFit Games. Horvath is also sitting atop the leaderboard after four events and a wild Day 1 of the 2018 CrossFit Games.
With four finishes inside the top 7, Horvath holds a 12-point lead over the defending champ Tia-Clair Toomey. Horvath jumped into 1st place after Toomey stumbled a bit on the Marathon Row, where she took 14th.
Horvath’s solid day started with a 2nd place finish on Crit, a 3rd place finish on 30 Muscle-Ups and 7th on the CrossFit Total. She would end her day with a 4th place on Marathon Row. Horvath will begin Friday wearing the leader’s jersey.
Toomey was also very impressive during the day on Wednesday. Toomey showed her raw strength on the CrossFit Total where she ended up accumulating 875 pounds to take the event win.

While Horvath and Toomey enjoy a bit of room ahead of 3rd place and the rest of the field, there are plenty of Games veterans lurking behind them. 2011 and 2012 CrossFit Games champ Annie Thorisdottir is in 3rd with 276 points, 50 behind Toomey. Behind her is Kara Saunders, Kristi Eramo and Katrin Davidsdottir.
The women’s field started the day with 40 athletes, but finished with 39 when CrossFit Games rookie Michele Fumagalli withdrew after crashing her bike at the end of the Crit.
