This afternoon CrossFit announced that the Masters, Teens and Adaptive Divisions will be be spun off from the individual and team competition in 2024. As part of the restructuring, CrossFit has partnered with three organizations – The Legends Championship, The Pit Teen Throwdowns and The WheelWOD Games for the upcoming season.
While these divisions will continue to participate in the traditional format through Semifinals, the championships for each division will be run by their respective organizing partner.
In doing so, more athletes will qualify for the finals from each division. “We believe this is a move that will benefit each division in significant ways, most importantly more than doubling qualifying spots for masters and teens and allowing every adaptive division a place at the in-person championship,” said Dave Castro, General Manager of Sport and Education at CrossFit.
The 2023 Legends Championship is slated for December 7-10, 2023 at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona.
The 2023 Pit Teen Throwdowns just wrapped up last month in Three Rivers, Michigan and the 2023 WheelWOD Games are set for November 30 to December 3, 2023 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Specifics regarding the location, timing, and other details for the 2024 season have yet to be disclosed by CrossFit at this time.
