CrossFit has historically reserved a block of hotel rooms near the venue for athletes who qualified for the CrossFit Games. This year, however, that process appears to be changing. In an email sent to 2024 CrossFit Games athletes, CrossFit shared that it will no longer continue reserving rooms for the 2025 CrossFit Games.
The decision was made as the reserved “have historically gone unused” and that athletes in recent years have elected to find other accommodations such as an Airbnb.

CrossFit decided to notify last year’s Games athletes of the policy change so that it was not a surprise later in the season had they qualified once again for the Games in Albany, New York.Â
With many opting out of the using the reserved hotel rooms, the change for this year’s Games is likely to avoid incurring charges for unused rooms. In many cases where an organization reserves rooms like this, the organization is on the hook to cover the cost of any rooms that were not taken.
So for athletes who did not qualify last year, but have their sights set on qualifying to Albany, it may be worth evaluating options now and finding a place to stay with a refundable option.
