Last year Dave Castro kept quiet throughout the CrossFit Open. There were no obscure hints on Instagram or even real hints like dumbbells in 2018. And while the live announcements hosted by Sanctionals across the world tried to hype up each week’s workout, there always seemed to be something missing.
Love him or hate him, Dave Castro always made the Open interesting. And while we may not get him back to make a live Open announcement, it looks like we will at least get the seemingly random hints again.
This morning, just two days before the release of 20.1 and the official start of the 2020 CrossFit Games season, Castro shared a photo on Instagram of two mules (or donkeys or miniature horses?) with the caption, “Twenty point One”.

In just 15 minutes after posting, over 250 comments had been made with the number growing. Even some of the top athletes of the sport commented.
Kristi Eramo: “Deadlift and burpee pull ups.”
Meredith Root: “That one pony is taking a pee. So obvi double unders and heavy squat cleans.”
Tim Paulson: “He’s back”
We have two days until 20.1 is revealed. The Rogue Invitational and CrossFit French Throwdown will be hosting live announcements Thursday night at 5pm Pacific Time.
