Following CrossFit’s announcement yesterday regarding the conclusion of the third-party investigation and the actions CrossFit intends to take heading into the 2025 CrossFit Games season, Emma McQuaid announced she will not compete next year.
McQuaid, via an Instagram story, reposted a post from Luka Đukić and added her thoughts to the situation.
Her story read…
CF will NEVER change!!
They will always continue to do
what ever they want when they
want!!
They change the season every
year
They continue to not give a shit
about the athletes or our safety
Il [sic] not be apart of CF shit show in
2025
McQuaid is the first athlete that I’ve seen clearly announce that she is not competing. However, McQuaid might have already had her foot out the door. In a recent video with Pedro from Coffee Pods & Wods, McQuaid shared that she was strongly considering stepping away from the sport.
Chandler Smith may also not be competing as his recent post said, “Not stopping, just turning. Good run.” A request for clarification was not immediately returned.
It will not be surprising if we begin to see more athletes announce their intentions to sit out the 2025 CrossFit Games season. Many have expressed they are not happy with the third-party investigation not being fully published, nor with the actions being taken by CrossFit.
The PFAA, who published three demands from CrossFit, has yet to release a statement following yesterday’s announcement. It appears that CrossFit has not honored any of what the PFAA was calling for.
As for the 2025 CrossFit Games season itself, CrossFit has indicated that a formal announcement will be made later this week. Many are expecting that news to come out tomorrow, Friday, November 22.
If you are curious about what that the season structure might look like, there are plenty of rumors out there. This would be a great place to catch up on those.
