Love it or hate it, Hunter McIntyre took his wildcard invite to the 2019 CrossFit Games and made it past the first cut and into the top 75. McIntyre was 3 reps shy of finishing ‘First Cut’, good for 46th and enough to advance to the second event.
McIntyre was in good position to advance into the top 50, but the handstand walks proved too much. McIntyre fell just short of making it through the second segment where athletes could reset. He was unable to complete the segment and would take 73rd in the event, pushing him to 62nd overall.
McIntyre reflected on his first appearance at the CrossFit Games on Instagram, “It was tough to stomach at first but I quickly realized that this is a blessing. My first professional spartan race I missed my spear and I lost my shoe in the mud.”
Hunter continued, “I quickly went home to double down on all my training and focus to make sure that would never happen again. If you catch the hint…. this won’t be my last time at the CrossFit games!”
