Two weeks ago CrossFit announced that Jack Monaghan failed a drug test while competing at Torian Pro, one of the In-Person Qualifying Events this season. Monaghan’s sample tested positive for a metabolite of drostanolone, a banned substance. Monaghan appealed the results.
Today, however, Monaghan shared with his followers on Instagram that he takes “full responsibility” for the situation.
He said he was struggling with the physical and mental demands of competing at the highest level and was dealing with a broken foot in the lead-up to the Torian Pro Qualifiers back in March. “That pressure contributed to my poor decision-making, but the responsibility remains entirely my own,” Monaghan explained.

Monaghan finished 6th overall at the 2025 Torian Pro. With his admission on social media, it is likely that he will drop his appeal and will thereby receive a four-year sanction from CrossFit competitions.
At the time of this article, Monaghan has not been sanctioned.
