After heading over the pond for the 23.1 live Open announcement in Madrid, Spain, the CrossFit team is headed back to the United States. Next Thursday, the 23.2 live Open announcement will be in Midland Park, New Jersey, at CrossFit Bison. And making their way to the east coast is none other than Roman Khrennikov and Pat Vellner.
Khrennikov is coming off a year where he finished on the podium in his first time actually competing at the CrossFit Games. Vellner, on the other hand, is trying to return to the podium after falling out of the top 3 in 2022.
Both men have competed at the Rogue Invitational and Wodapalooza this off-season with each besting the other in one of the competitions. Vellner held the advantage over Khrennikov at the Rogue Invitational, but Khrennikov redeemed himself at Wodapalooza when he edged out Vellner for 2nd place overall.
As the season unfolds, Vellner will be competing out of the North America West region while Khrennikov will be in the North America East region after receiving a competition region exemption earlier this year.
