Last week Emma Lawson announced that she would not register for the CrossFit Open, thereby ending her chance at qualifying for a fourth consecutive CrossFit Games appearance. Now, this afternoon, it has been confirmed that Emma Lawson will also not compete at the Mayhem Classic. Nina Vragovic will take Lawson’s spot in the 20 athlete field.
The Mayhem Classic is one of the In-Person Qualifying Events of the 2025 CrossFit Games season. The top 2 men and top 2 women at the Mayhem Classic will punch their ticket to the CrossFit Games (provided they finish in the top 1% of the CrossFit Open).
Lawson said she has been dealing with a nagging back injury and has decided to take a step back now in order to get healthy. With Lawson stepping away from the Games season, she is eyeing a return to the competition floor in May for Tour Event 1 of the World Fitness Project.
As for Vragovic stepping in for Lawson, Nina, who trains at CrossFit Mayhem, has competed at the North America East Semifinal the past two seasons. In 2024, she placed 24th overall.
