Roan Low has received a 4-year sanction for failing an in-competition drug test while competing at the 2026 Masters CrossFit Games. Low dominated the Men’s 55-59 year-old Masters division at the Games, finishing in 1st place and over 100 points ahead of Eric Smith in 2nd.

However, following the competition, Low failed his drug test. The sample he provided contained exogenous testosterone and its metabolites, according to CrossFit.
By violating the 2026 CrossFit Games drug policy, Low will serve a 4-year sanction banning him from competing in the CrossFit Games season and other CrossFit-sanctioned events. His sanction runs from July 24, 2026, through July 2024, 2030.

Low qualified to the 2026 Masters CrossFit Games via the Online Semifinals where he placed 4th in the world. It was his third appearance at the CrossFit Games. He finished 14th and 7th in the 2024 and 2025 Masters CrossFit Games, respectively, while competing in the 50-54 year-old division.

Low is the second masters athlete to have failed a drug test this season. Last month CrossFit reported that Wayne O’Hara, 2nd in the 65-69 masters division, also tested positive for exogenous testosterone, the same as Low.
With Low’s sanction, Eric Smith will move into 1st place overall in the 55-59 division. Chad Stewart and Bernard Luzi will move into 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.
Oh, and a little lol…Mr. Roan Low also was awarded $750 for the Performance of the Day, Presented by FloElite. Hopefully, that check was held until the drug testing came back…
