The Rebel Renegade Games is one of the In-Person Qualifying Events for the 2025 CrossFit Games season. Scheduled for May 30 to June 1, the organizers set a geofence for the South African-based competition, limiting athletes who have citizenship or are living and training in the selected regions of Africa, the UAE, and the Gulf Countries
While the official online qualifier is not until April 10, the Rebel Renegade Games have announced they have given Sara Sigmundsdottir a special invite to compete at the In-Person Qualifier.
The news may have surprised some given the geographical requirements, however, Sigmundsdottir is currently a resident of UAE and falls within the parameters set forth to compete.
Sigmundsdottir is the first athlete to receive a “golden ticket” invite. It is not known at this time whether any other athletes will get to bypass the qualifier and go directly to the in-person competition.
The Rebel Renegade Games will take place at the Emerald Resort and Casino in Vanderbijlpark, South Africa, from May 30 through June 1. The top male and female (who also finish in the top 1% of the CrossFit Open) will receive an invite to compete at the 2025 CrossFit Games.
