Last month CrossFit announced that Shawn Ramirez had violated the CrossFit Games Drug Testing Policy during an in-competition drug test at the 2024 Masters CrossFit Games. Ramirez appealed the findings.
After reviewing Ramirez’s appeal, CrossFit has issued a lifetime sanction beginning September 1, 2024. As such, Ramirez will not be allowed to compete in any CrossFit-sanctioned competition ever again.
It is the first time that CrossFit has ever handed out a lifetime sanction.
The failed drug was Ramirez’s second time violating the drug testing policy. Back in 2018, Ramirez tested positive for metabolites of GW501516. He received a 4-year sanction at that time.
His sanction ended in late 2022. The 2024 Masters CrossFit Games was the first time competing in the Games season since his original sanction.
