Tia-Clair Toomey Looks Unstoppable in Pacific Regional

Tia-Clair Toomey looks ready to defend her Fittest on Earth title this year. Toomey looked unstoppable this weekend at the Pacific Regional. While the 24-year-old Australia has won the CrossFit Games and competed at the Olympics, Toomey had never won Regionals…until Sunday.

Toomey was dominant throughout the weekend finishing no worse than 2nd all weekend long. With three event wins and three 2nd place finishes, Toomey racked up 582 points out of a possible 600. Toomey also set an event record on Event 6 with a time of 3:56.

Heading into the Pacific Regional, all eyes were on the dual between Toomey and Kara Saunders (formerly Webb). The 1st and 2nd place finishers from last year’s CrossFit Games did not disappoint. Saunders won two events and her worst finish was 6th on the Triple 3.

Toomey and Webb are joined by CrossFit Games veterans Justine Beath and Madeline Sturt. Beath competed at the 2014 CrossFit Games while Sturt is making her 3rd consecutive Games appearance. They are all joined by Games rookie Courtney Haley.

Haley has been close to qualifying in previous years. Haley finished 7th at the 2016 and 2017 Pacific Regionals.

Final Standings:
1) Tia-Clair Toomey (582)
2) Kara Saunders (552)
3) Justine Beath (468)
4) Courtney Haley (434)
5) Madeline Sturt (434)
