Yesterday, we shared news that Darko Tasevski, National Champion of North Macedonia, had his visa application denied and will not be able to travel to the United States to compete at the 2019 CrossFit Games. Now today, the female National Champion of North Macedonia, Viki Ristoska, has suffered the same fate.
Ristoska shared the bad news on Instagram earlier today. We reached out to Ristoska to find out if she was given a reason for her denial. Ristoska said, “the first time they said that they understand my wish to compete but that I’m denied, and the second time they [didn’t] want to see any documents just ask two or three questions and say the same thing.” She continued, “They said I don’t have a strong connection to the motherland [North Macedonia]. Maybe it’s because I’m young, not married and don’t have kids.”
So far, our count has three athletes who have had their visa applications denied. Ristoska, Tasevski and Roman Khrennikov.
