Watch “Every Second Counts: The Story of the 2008 CrossFit Games”

If you have been around CrossFit for a very long time, or just like the history of the sport, you have probably watched (or at least heard about) Every Second Counts. With yesterday’s news that the 2020 CrossFit Games will start with three events for total time, the documentary about the 2008 Games is more relevant than ever.

Every Second Counts follows the story of the 2008 CrossFit Games as athletes compete in four events. Scoring at the 2008 Games was a bit different. Rather than athletes scoring points after each event, the cumulative time of the events were added up throughout the weekend and the athlete with the lowest time was declared the winner.

The final event was 30 Clean and Jerks for time (Grace). The athlete in first place started first and then athletes began later based on how many seconds/minutes they were behind. The first athlete to finish the final event was the winner.

Of note, Chris Spealler started the final event in 1st place and Jason Khalipa ended up winning the 2008 CrossFit Games. The documentary also features a younger Dave Castro and Greg Glassman.
