The Community Cup and the Hustle Up Last-Chance Qualifier are the same weekend. The Community Cup is scheduled for June 9-15. The Hustle Up Last-Chance Qualifier is scheduled for June 13-16.Â
Are you thinking what I’m thinking?
They have to be tied together, right? There’s no way CrossFit runs the Community Cup at the same time a completely different online competition is running…right?
So what if…the workouts of the Last-Chance Qualifier are the same workouts as the Community Cup?
If you look at the Community Cup Tiers, the Level 10 tier is for the top 1% of the Open. The top 1% also advance to the In-Affiliate Semifinals.
Adrian Bozman and Dave Castro have both said that the Community Cup workouts will be modified based on your Level. That is, Level 10 (the top 1%) will face the highest skills, highest weights, etc, and the skills required and the weights programmed will be modified as you work your way down the Levels.
For example, Level 10 could require deficit strict handstand push-ups while Level 8 could require strict handstand push-ups. Level 6 could require kipping handstand push-ups. Level 4 would be wall walks and Level 2 would be scaled wall walks. It would essentially be like a CrossFit class…program for the best and scale for the rest.
So I think we will see the Last-Chance Qualifier is part of the Community Cup. The only difference is that the top 1% (Level 10) will have a different timeline to complete the workouts. By doing so, you tie in the rest of the community to what the top athletes are doing.
It’s the like the Open where all can compete, from the best of the best to someone just beginning CrossFit. It’s another weekend where we can celebrate community AND watch the fittest vie for a spot to the CrossFit Games.
