The CrossFit Games season in 2019 was unlike any we had seen before. From the elimination of Regionals to the introduction of Sanctionals and the inclusion of National Champions at the Games, it was a year of firsts for the sport of fitness.
But while changes to the sport were happening, 2019 was overshadowed by the passing of two athletes in the community. Becky Conzelman, a former Games athlete, died following a brain aneurysm in April. And just this month, 17-year-old Jacob Morris passed away after complications from heart surgery.
Here is a look back at 2019 and the most-read stories this year.
While you are here, The Barbell Spin is dedicated to providing the best coverage of the CrossFit Games day in and day out. We don’t hide behind a paywall as we think the fan should not be forced to pay to keep up with the sport they love.
We do, however, have expenses to maintain TheBarbellSpin.com and to continue to expand what we can provide to you, our reader. We have started a Patreon account to help us cover those expense.
For $5 a month, your contribution will help us attend Sanctionals this season as well as the Games. For those who have contributed already, we want to thank you for your support.
