Just two days after winning the NorCal Classic, Alex Gazan and her husband, Jake, were in a car accident. Gazan suffered a fractured fibula.
The injury will most likely prevent Gazan from competing at the 2025 CrossFit Games and also puts her World Fitness Project season in jeopardy. So far this year, Gazan won the WFP Tour Stop 1 in May and followed that up with a first place finish at the NorCal Classic.
The next WFP competition is at the end of August in Mesa, Arizona. Gazan, a signed Pro athlete, will be guaranteed a spot in the Pro division. Even if she is unable to compete in August, she will be able to compete at the WFP Finals this December.
Gazan earned 500 points from her victory at Tour Stop 1. She will need to earn enough points from the next two WFP competitions to finish inside the top 20 to retain her Pro card for the 2026 season.
As for Gazan’s qualification spot from NorCal, if she is unable to compete that spot should go to Carolyne Prevost, the next athlete in line. Prevost finished in 3rd place overall this past weekend.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help Alex and Jake cover costs from the accident. The driver was uninsured thereby leaving costs on the Gazans.
