Yesterday Greg Hammond, the marketing dude of Concept2, teased at a new product coming soon. Less than 24 hours later, Concept2 revealed the new Erg…

Say hello to the StrengthErg.

In its announcement, Concept2 shares that the StrengthErg uses air resistance and can handle up to 1,500 pounds of force. “You can safely get a strength workout in without the plates, barbells or weights,” Concept2 says in its caption on Instagram.

The free ErgData app allows you to track performance over time.

The StrengthErg will retail at $1,350 without a PM5 monitor or $1,500 with the PM5 monitor. If you elect to go without the monitor, you can connect the StrengthErg to the ErgData app for free.

You can head over to Concept2’s website and enter your email to stay up-to-date on when the StrengthErg is officially released.

It doesn’t feel like the StrengthErg is targeting the CrossFit crowd, given its marketing message of lifting without plates, barbells or weights. Maybe I’m wrong. What do you think?
