CrossFit Trussville Destroyed by Fire Sunday Afternoon

At 1:14 pm Sunday afternoon, firefighter crews were dispatched to CrossFit Trussville on Railroad Avenue. The first firetruck arrived two minutes later to see fire and smoke coming from the Trussville, Alabama, CrossFit gym.

The first was contained within 20 minutes, but by that time the damage had been done. From images posted on CrossFit Trussville’s Instagram page, the building is completely destroyed on the inside.

It is believed that no one inside the gym at the time of the fire and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire chief, Tim Shotts, confirmed there were no injuries.

While the gym is destroyed, CrossFit Trussville is, however, continuing with its regular classes at an alternate location until they can rebuild. Gateway Family Church is providing the gym space to continue its classes until they can rebuild. Members and coaches helped transport equipment this morning to their new temporary home.

CrossFit Trussville was founded in 2010 by Andrew Rape, a 2012 CrossFit Regionals athlete and a 3-year veteran of the GRID League.
