Justin Medeiros joined the Boys Interrupted podcast for a special ‘Live from WZA SoCal’ episode this afternoon. Four days after Medeiros was involved in a bad accident on his motorcycle, he opened the show by saying, “I look like I’m f**king 300 pounds.”
Despite having his jaw wired shut, Medeiros appeared to be in good spirits and had the guys (and myself) laughing throughout. He filled everyone in on what happened Monday afternoon the best that he could, considering he doesn’t actually remember the crash itself and was blacked out for five minutes.
Throughout being transported to the hospital in the ambulance and once in the hospital, he was unable to contact Ellie Turner, his fiancé, to tell her what happened. After he didn’t come back home from his haircut she realized he was at the hospital, but couldn’t get in touch with him.
Medeiros had surgery to realign his jaw and it is now wired shut for the next six weeks. He had chicken and broccoli, blended up, for dinner last night. His biggest concern right now is that he doesn’t lose too much weight while he can’t eat solid food.
As for competing, he is obviously not competing this weekend at GYMREAPERS Wodapalooza SoCal. However, he hopes he can still compete at the Rogue Invitational, although he admits it’s extremely unlikely.
So far he’s still on the Rogue Invitational roster, but keep an eye out for the eventual backfill invite.
