Kettlebell Kitchen, the meal prep delivery service which fueled CrossFit athletes such as Kari Pearce, announced today it will close its kitchen. In an email to customers, the company did not announce why it will stop service, but recommended Territory, an unaffiliated chef-prepared meal delivery service.
The New York-based Kettlebell Kitchen has created healthy protein-fueled prepared meals since 2011, expanding to a national delivery service in 2017. CrossFit athletes and local healthy eaters could have their meals delivered to local CrossFit boxes to save on shipping costs. The company had support from the CrossFit community in athletes such as Kari Pearce who worked as a spokesperson for the company and mentioned regularly on the popular podcast Girls Gone WOD.
According to Bloomberg, North Castle Partners, a private equity firm known for working with fitness brands, invested $26.7 million in Kettlebell Kitchen last October. Territory, the recommended alternative, is based out of the Washington, D.C. area also delivers to gyms and is reported to be expanding their delivery areas.
