Do you remember the story from January where the podium finishers of the MBS Turkey Challenge never received their promised prize money? Well, it doesn’t look like that will be paid out any time soon. Michael MaiAlley, the owner of MBS Turkey Challenge, Renovo Clinic, and MBS CrossFit, was charged earlier this month for pet insurance fraud.
The Colorado Attorney General’s Office filed a criminal case against MaiAlley for pet insurance fraud. MaiAlley now faces up to 22 felonies for theft, forgery, insurance fraud and criminal attempt to commit theft.
Apparently MaiAlley created a fake company, NoCo Vets, where he submitted fraudulent claims to three pet insurance companies between 2020-2023. One of those companies, Healthy Paws, states they reimbursed MaiAlley for over $80,000 in fraudulent claims.
MaiAlley faces up to 40 to 50 years if convicted on all counts. However, because of the non-violent nature it is unlikely he will receive the maximum sentence.
MaiAlley has since posted a $5,000 bond following his arrest.
MaiAlley was the owner of MBS CrossFit, which hosted the MBS Turkey Challenge. Since the news broke in late January, MBS CrossFit has since shut down operations.

MaiAlley was also the founder and CEO of Renovo Clinic. The company was heavily involved and one of the primary sponsors of Reps Ahead. The Renovo Clinic’s website has been taken down.
Additionally, MaiAlley owned New You Crew Nutrition & Fitness, LLC. On February 18, 2025, RYTY Funding, LLC, filed a lawsuit against New You Crew Nutrition & Fitness, LLC and MaiAlley alleging nonpayment of a $500,000 promissory note.
According to court documents, Ryty Funding entered into the agreement with MaiAlley in September 2024. RYTY Funding claims the initial payment of $14,000 was not made in January. MaiAlley personally guaranteed the loan.
