The Professional Fitness Athletes’ Association, aka the PFAA, is holding a vote today to elect the members for the new Athlete Board. Those elected today will replace the current board members and will serve as a board member for the next two years.
Athlete Board members are tasked with making decisions to support the PFAA’s mission and goals in addition to giving direction to the Executive Committee.
All voting members can be elected to a seat on the Board. Eligible voting members include:
- Over 18 years old
- Active in the Elite individual category over the previous rolling 24-month period in the following events:
- CrossFit Games: all invited Individual category
- CrossFit Semifinals (or similar event to qualify an individual to the CrossFit Games): the male and female Individual one step below the CrossFit Games qualifier position (i.e. Anikha Greer)
- IF3 World Championship: Senior individual top 3 male/female
- Other functional fitness competitions that host Elite individuals
The PFAA sent an email dated October 16 to eligible voting members asking for nominations to the Athlete Board. In that email, it stated that potential Board members had to be nominated by others or self-nominated.
Additionally, the PFAA “seek[s] global and gender balance to represent our overall membership pool.” Currently, the Athlete Board consists of nine members representing each of the Semifinal regions (Europe has two representatives) and a President, Brent Fikowski.
Current Athlete Board members:
- Brent Fikowski (President)
- Dina Swift (Asia/Africa)
- Annie Thorisdottir (Europe)
- Luka Ðukić (Europe)
- Leeverne Engelbrecht (Asia/Africa)
- Fee Saghafi (North America East)
- Pat Vellner (North America West)
- Royce Dunn (Oceania)
- Victoria Campos (South America)
Today, the PFAA is hosting two Zoom calls in which it appears they will provide those in attendance with a link to vote for the new Athlete Board members.
In speaking with eligible voting members of the PFAA, many were unaware of the scheduled meetings. However, it appears a follow-up email was sent in the past 24 hours to athletes regarding the meetings and the vote.
Once the meetings and voting has wrapped up today, it appears it will be a quick turnaround to announce the new Athlete Board members. In an Instagram post by the PFAA yesterday, the newly elected Board members will be announced on Friday, November 15.
Update: PFAA members have until Sunday, November 17, to submit their vote for the new Athlete Board.
