CrossFit just released the prize purse for the 2017 CrossFit Team Series and it is less than last year’s total purse. In 2017, CrossFit will award $101,250 in total prizes for the online team series competition that kicks off next month. This, however, is down from the $151,000 prize purse from the previous three years.
This year, the three divisions (male, female and mixed) will each have a prize purse of $33,750 with $10,000 going to the winning teams/pairs. The top 15 teams in each division will walk away with some cash.
Cash Payouts for Each Division:
1st – $10,000
2nd – $5,000
3rd – $3,000
4th – $2,500
5th – $2,250
6th – $2,000
7th – $1,750
8th – $1,500
9th – $1,250
10th – $1,000
11th – $900
12th – $800
13th – $700
14th – $600
15th – $500
The top prize of $10,000 means each athlete on the winning team/pair will receive $5,000. The members of last year’s top prize each received $7,500 after the $30,000 prize was split among four athletes.
So while more athletes will break into the money this year, the pile of cash will be smaller.
