The final team for the 2016 CrossFit Invitational has been set. CrossFit released the roster of Team USA on Friday and it is loaded. Mat Fraser and Ben Smith, 1st and 2nd at the 2016 CrossFit Games, are on the men’s side. Kari Pearce and Brooke Wells, 5th and 6th at this year’s Games, are on the women’s side.
Rich Froning will be the team’s coach.
Team USA has the best average Games finish by far compared to the three other teams with an average finish of 3.5. Team Europe has an average finish at 8.5. Canada is at 9.3 and Pacific rounds it out at 12.5. However, the Invitational has rewarded teams that exhibit better teamwork rather than individual performances. So although Team USA had the better individual performances, they will need to gel as a team in Canada.
This will the first year that Mat Fraser competes in the Invitational. He declined his invite in 2015 because of school obligations. Rich Froning filled in for Fraser last year.
The CrossFit Invitational will take place on November 20 in Toronto.
