Last week we shared that several top CrossFit athletes were flying up to Minnesota to compete in the invitation-only Tough Mudder X competition. The shortened 1-mile course featuring both standard Tough Mudder obstacles and functional fitness stations was set up for a made-for-tv competition to be aired on CBS in 7 weeks.
Along with elite OCR’s (Obstacle Course Racers) and American Ninja Warriors competitors were CrossFit athletes including the Spencer Panchik, Stacie Tovar and Margaux Alvarez were Sam and Jenn Dancer. The event organizers said all three Panchik brothers would be competing in a podcast, but it appears that only Spencer and Scott Panchik’s wife, Christin, made the trek to Minnesota.
In the end, OCR athlete (and Broken Skull Ranch Champion) Hunter McIntyre won the men’s division. McIntrye also competed in the 2017 CrossFit Open finishing 4,437th in the world and 214th in the Southern California region. McIntyre’s worst finish in the Open was 17.3 featuring heavy snatches.
Spencer Panchik made it to the finals and ended up taking 5th place. One spot ahead of him was Jared Astle. Astle runs Black Magic Training alongside his girlfriend Jenn Jones.
In the women’s division, Corinna Coffin took home the $25,000 first place prize followed by Cassidy Lane Watton in second and Jenn Dancer in third. Both Coffin and Watten are primarily OCR athletes, Coffin is a high-level CrossFit athlete as well. Coffin finished 855th in the world (42nd in the South West region) during the 2017 CrossFit Open.
Dancer, also a top-level CrossFit athlete and finished 10th at the CrossFit Central Regional in Nashville, Tennessee. Dancer walked away with $1,000.
